Halloween at Disneyland!

I went to Disneyland from October 22-26 with Amber, our friends Stephanie and Jarod, my parents, and Amber's parents to go to the Halloween party at California Adventure and, of course, just to go to Disneyland! We all dressed up as characters from The Wizard of Oz.

We were lacking a Tin Man, but we somehow managed to convince mine and Amber's dads and Steph's husband Jarod to be Munchkins, which I think more than made up for our missing a main character. Here they are in all their glory:

Also, this was our stay at the famed Disney house! It’s hard to pick out only a few pictures, but I’ll try!

We spent alllll day Saturday and alllll day Sunday at the parks.

Splash Mountain! From front to back: Jarod, Stephanie, Amber, me, my mom.
I had been hoping to see some villains wandering around the parks since Disney had really been making a big deal of them in their Halloween advertisements (and they’re always the most fun characters), but unfortunately the villains seemed contained to a picture-taking spot at the back of the park. Oh well.
And then it was time to say good-bye to Disneyland. Til next time…

Gigi

I believe at this point we are all going to have to accept the fact that there will be no wedding recaps in this blog. It just ain't gonna happen. I am at least going to think about putting the wedding pics in an online photo album so my friends and family not on Facebook can see them :)

Anyway, Dan and I got a dog! Her name is Gigi and she is wonderful :) She's some sort of German Shepherd mix (the vet said maybe Border Collie--she looks rather Border Collie to me) and she's a little over a year old. We got her from the vet, who got her from an old lady (whose husband died, and she couldn't take care of Gigi), who got her from a shelter. Or a canal bank or something. Anyway. The vet said he suspects she wasn't socialized properly (since she lived with old people who couldn't take her out) and was possibly also neglected, and she is a little afraid of people (at least we're assuming that's why she makes herself look so mean). She barks when anyone new comes to visit (which isn't often), and at strangers when we go on walks. We've had her for a week and she's already gotten a little better about not barking at strangers on walks, unless they get way too close or are little girls. Barks her head off at little girls for some reason. Maybe the old people had an evil granddaughter. But back to the point. Aside from that, she's really, really good and quiet (which is a big plus since we live in apartments). And I love my doggie :)

I don't have super-fantastic pictures of her, but here are a couple so you can at least get an idea of what she looks like.

Introducing....Mrs. Wright!

It's been three weeks since our wedding, hooray! The day was awesome, and Dan and I both had a great time.
I got an e-mail from the photographer last night saying she is almost finished editing our pictures, which means some wedding recaps will be coming your way soon! See ya then :)

My Invitations!

I know I never finished my little series on how to make my invites, but they're done and were mailed out a while ago (obviously, as the wedding's in two weeks!) and I must say, I'm quite happy with them :) Anyhow, if any of you are interested in how to make the belly bands, which I think is the last part in my "making" series, leave a comment and let me know. If there's any interest, I'll go ahead and make a separate post for that.

Anyhow, now I'll share with you some pictures of my finished invitations! I hope you like them, and please leave me a comment if you have any questions about the making of them! These are all the inserts; information about the reception, an RSVP postcard, and directions to the house.
The inside, with everything assembled :) When you remove the picture, there's a really cute little cutout flower underneath (that's the edge of it sticking out at the corner of the picture).
Here I am making belly bands for the invites...I happened to see my ears in a bag and I couldn't resist putting them on!
The outside of the invite. The colors are a bit off in this picture, but you can see the embossing detail on the white part of the belly band quite well :)

Here they are (well, about 2/3 of them), ready and waiting to be stuffed, sealed, and sent!

I taught myself calligraphy so I could address my invitations myself. Here I am where I took over the kitchen table, at my little invitation station :)

And here they are, all ready to be sent out! Our return address label is on the back, and I sealed each envelope with wax. And that's that.
